8th Grade Boys Basketball The 8th grade boys basketball will have a midseason mixer on Saturday, January 28th @ 9:00am @ St. Marys. SM will play Santa Fe Trail @ 9:00am & SM will play Rock Creek @ 9:45am (approximate time). Both games will be in the Varsity gym. Gate: Students- $3.00 Adults- $3.00 Family Cap- $15.00. The Sophomore class will be selling biscuits & gravy during this mixer.

JH Boys Basketball JH Boys Basketball @ Riley Co. on Monday, January 30th @ 5:30pm. Transportation will leave @ 3:50pm. Admission $3 per person ($15 family cap). The gym will open to the public @ 5:05pm, please do not arrive prior to this time.

7th Grade Boys Classic The 7th Grade Boys Classic will be held on Saturday, January 28th @ 9:00am @ Wabaunsee High School in Alma. SM will play Rock Creek @ 9:00am & SM will play Santa Fe Trail @ 10:30am (approximate time). Both games will be in the secondary gym. Transportation will leave @ 8:00am. Admission prices will be $3 for adults and $3 for students and a $15 Family Cap.

Horatio Alger Scholarship 2023 Horatio Alger Scholarship Application DEADLINE: March 15 2023 at 12:00 PM EDT (Noon) DESCRIPTION As one of the nation's largest need-based college scholarship programs in the country, the Horatio Alger Scholarship Programs specifically assist high school students who have faced and overcome great obstacles in their young lives. While many programs are directed primarily to recognizing academic achievement or leadership potential, the Horatio Alger Association seeks students who have exhibited determination, integrity, and perseverance in overcoming adversity, as well as have critical financial need. 2023 Quinton Unruh $10,000 Memorial Grant MERIDEN—Applications and nominations are now open for the 2023 Quinton Unruh $10,000 Memorial Grant, the Woolly Farms Foundation announced Monday. The grant honors the memory of Quint Unruh of Meriden, who died of cancer in November 2020. The grant is awarded to someone who lives life with passion, kindness, leadership, and integrity. Grant recipients demonstrate excellence in academics, athletics, arts, community involvement, environmental stewardship, entrepreneurial spirit, or spiritual development. Applications and nominations can be submitted at alwayswonder.org. The application and nomination deadline is February 1, 2023. The award winner will be notified in March 2023 and presented with the check at the 2023 Woolly Farms Spring Fling gala in April.

Ag Partners Scholarship Scholarship Program: https://www.agpartnerscoop.com/about/scholarship The 2023 Scholarship Program opened on October 3, 2022 and closes March 1, 2023. Ag Partners will offer five $1,000 scholarships to qualifying high school seniors who submit a completed online application. Applicants will be notified by April 2023 once the scholarship committee has determined awardees. Scholarships will be mailed directly to the school that is being attended on behalf of each recipient. Qualifications: Applicant must be a child or grandchild of a current Ag Partners member-owner or employee. Be a high school senior, graduating in spring 2023. Enrolled at a post-secondary institution immediately following high school graduation. Demonstrate leadership abilities, academic performance, and desire to further their education and career in an agricultural-related field. Kaw Valley Education Association Scholarship Kaw Valley Education Association Scholarship This scholarship was made possible by local teacher members of the Kaw Valley School District. A. Kansas Masonic Foundation Scholarships In 2013, the Kansas Masonic Foundation Board of Trustees voted to award almost $250,000 annually to college students and residents. Going forward, the Kansas Masonic Foundation will offer scholarships in the following three categories. Scholarship applications are accepted from December 1 through March 15. Washburn University Leadership Institute Scholarship DEADLINE FEBRUARY 28 Direct from high school and transfer students coming to Washburn University are invited to apply for a Leadership Institute scholarship. These are competitive scholarships suitable for students who exhibit leadership initiative and seek additional leadership development opportunities during their college years. Most scholarships are $1000.00 Minimum scholarship requirements for direct from high school students include a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale or a minimum ACT of 24. Transfer students must have a cumulative 3.0 GPA. Accepting a Leadership scholarship commits a student to participate in Washburn University's Leadership Institute, maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 while making appropriate progress toward a Leadership Studies Minor or Certificate. Finalists will be notified by March 10, 2023 whether they are a scholarship finalist. Required on-campus interviews will be conducted in early April. Scholarship recipients will be announced by April 21, 2023. Better Business Bureau Student of Integrity Scholarship 2023 BBB STUDENT OF INTEGRITY AWARD SCHOLARSHIPS Six high school seniors from Nebraska/Southwest Iowa – 3 from Metro Omaha/Southwest Iowa and 3 from Metro Lincoln/Greater Nebraska - will each be granted $2,000 college scholarships. These awards are not based on ethnicity, need or grade point average, but recognize students who exemplify ethical behavior and personal integrity, and who demonstrate humility, courage, compassion and respect for their peers, teachers and community — values of the BBB. The Application Guide with complete instructions and the Application and Recommendation Forms can all be accessed at bbb.org/local/0714/bbb-student-of-integrity-awards.html. The application and recommendations are all submitted electronically. To be considered by the judges, applications must be submitted by Friday, March 24, 2023. Scholarship winners will be announced in April.

KS Rural Communities Foundation Scholarship ST. MARYS HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE THROUGH THE KANSAS RURAL COMMUNITIES FOUNDATION Walter Byers Scholarship (approx. $1,000) Walters Byers was the owner of the Byers Ranch near Emmett, Kansas from 1965 until his death in 2015. In 1951 Mr. Byers was named the first executive director of the NCAA. It was Mr. Byers’ wish to award an annual, renewable scholarship to a Kansas high school student based upon need and academic achievement. The scholarship may be used to attend any college or university in the United States. The scholarship may be renewed for recipients, upon determination by the Kansas Rural Communities Foundation of continuing eligibility, through college and may even extend to post graduate studies in a field other than law or veterinary medicine. Criteria  Available to a high school senior from Jackson, Nemaha, Pottawatomie or Wabaunsee counties  The applicant must be a Kansas resident for at least four years prior to receipt of the scholarship  Grade point average of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (3.0 GPA must be maintained in college for renewal)  Evidence of financial need required Kaw Valley State Bank & Trust Co Employee Donor Advised Scholarship (2 at approx. $250 each) The employees of the Kaw Valley State Bank in Wamego, Kansas have established a fund to award scholarships to area high school seniors.  Two $250 scholarships will be awarded to students attending a high school in Pottawatomie or Wabaunsee counties. Criteria  Available to a high school senior from Pottawatomie or Wabaunsee counties  The recipient shall be enrolled in any accredited two or four year post-secondary institution.  Special consideration shall be given to a family member of an employee of Kaw Valley State Bank.  Special consideration shall be given to any student who shows leadership within their school by being part of a club or civic group. St. Marys Masonic Memorial Scholarship (3 at approx. $500) This scholarship was established with the Kansas Rural Communities Foundation in November 2008 to reward St. Marys high School graduating seniors who have shown academic achievement and leadership during his or her high school years. Criteria  The recipient shall be a St. Marys High School graduate  Special consideration shall be given to those who have demonstrated academic achievement and leadership.  Financial need will be considered. WTC Scholarships (6) (approx. $1,000) WTC (formerly Wamego Telephone Company, Inc.) has always considered it important to give back to the educational efforts of youth within each community it serves. These scholarships were established in 1998 to reward those students who have excelled during their high school years and are available to a graduating senior at each high school in WTC’s service area: Wamego, Rock Creek, Rossville, Wabaunsee, St. Marys Academy, and St. Marys High School. Criteria  Available to a graduating senior at each high school in WTC's service area (Wamego, Rock Creek, Wabaunsee, and St. Marys (High School and Academy). Flint Hills Builders Association Flint Hills Builders Association awards scholarships to students in our community who are pursuing a career in the construction industry. The application is open to any student from the Flint Hills Region high schools who will be attending a post-secondary institution (college or trade school) during the upcoming academic year. Wamego Community Foundation- Bank of the Flint Hills Bank of the Flint Hills Employee Donor Advised Scholarships (10 @ approximately $500 each) In 2010 the employees of First National Bank of Wamego (now the Bank of the Flint Hills in each of the following communities in which each such Bank by this name is currently located) established the First National Bank Employee Donor Advised Fund. The purpose of this fund is to allow the employees to collectively support the community in ways that they could not do individually. By combining the gifts from all the employees, they are able to create a significant amount of dollars each year that can be directed toward charitable causes in the communities they serve. The employees decided they wanted to give scholarships to graduating seniors of those various area high schools described as follows. Jere F Miller Charitable Trust Scholarship Application Requirements & Information: 1. $1,000 per year scholarship, renewable up to four years. It will be awarded to two (2) St. Marys High School seniors planning to attend a 4-year college, a 2-year college, a technical school, or a vocational/trade school. 2. True Blue ® KSHSAA Scholarship Application Process The KSHSAA and Capitol Federal Foundation ® will award True Blue Scholarships intended to support Kansas High School graduates in postsecondary efforts. This one-time scholarship is for students graduating during the 2022-23 school year. These funds will be made payable to a two-year or four-year accredited college, university or technical school in the name of the selected student. Awards are non-renewable, one-time scholarships in the amount of $2,000 provided for a student in each activity administered by the KSHSAA. You may contact the KSHSAA at kshsaa@kshsaa.org or 785-273-5329 with any questions. Eligibility Students must be seniors attending and graduating from a member school of the Kansas State High School Activities Association during the 2022-23 school year and have rostered in the chosen activity their senior year. They must be considered as students in good standing as confirmed by their building principal. Students must enroll and attend a post-secondary institution of their choice as a full-time student within two years of graduation. Applicants must be in their final semester of high school. If you are a Division I bound athlete, please check with your institution about eligibility for this scholarship before applying. Failure to complete submission by designated deadline will make the student ineligible for the scholarship. · Scholarships will be awarded in categories noted online. Even though the student may participate in multiple activities, they may only apply for one category award (one application per student). · The student shall submit a scholarship application which reflects school activity participation; this component is reviewed by a school or district administrator. · The student shall complete an essay of no more than 500 words in response to the following prompt: "How participation in school activities has helped me become a better citizen." · The student shall submit one reference letter reflective of community service completed by the student during their high school career. · The student shall submit an official seven-semester high school transcript. · The student and parent shall provide appropriate release to the selection committee to review the application materials and to approve using the name and image in local and social media if the student is selected as a scholarship winner. · Applications may be submitted during the open application period of January 20, 2023, to March 1, 2023. Elks Legacy Scholarship Legacy Awards are $4,000 scholarships available to children and grandchildren of Elks members. Eligibility requirements are outlined below. The 2023 contest and application closes on February 6, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time. For the 2023 contest, any child or grandchild (or step-child, step-grandchild, or legal ward) of a living Elk who joined the order on or before April 1, 2020, or a charter member of a Lodge that was instituted on or after April 1, 2020, is eligible to apply. The Elk must also be a paid-up member through March 31, 2023. Great-grandchildren are not eligible. The applicant must be a high school senior. The applicant must apply online only. The 2023 Legacy Awards application deadline is February 6, 2023, 11:59 pm Pacific Time. If the applicant's parent and grandparent are both Elk members, the applicant must apply through the parent's Elks Lodge. We have waived the standardized test requirement for the 2023 Legacy contest. You do not need to submit ACT and/or SAT scores. Students may apply for more than one ENF scholarship; however, they may win only one.
