Washburn Tech (KAT) Visits February 17th, March 24th, April 13th, and May 4th. If you are interested in visiting with the Washburn Tech rep - please sign up outside Mrs. Hurla's door and she will come get you when the rep arrives.


Hawk Talk Coming to the Manhattan Public Library on Tuesday, March 9th. This is for Juniors and Seniors, and your families to better understand why KU is a great place to be. Seniors will learn how to make the most of their final high school days, and Juniors will hear about how to prepare now for the upcoming college search...If you are interested and/or want more information go to www.admissions.ku.edu/receptions


Kansas Junior Golf Scholarship The Kansas Golf Foundation will award five scholarships...this is an academic scholarship, but in order to be eligible, a student must have participated in junior golf activities, including high school golf. Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors based on academic performance, leadership, a written essay and financial need. The grant is $1250 and is renewable for up to four years. Recipients must attend a Kansas college or university, including community colleges. Applications are available at www.kansasgolf.org - click on "Kansas Golf Foundation" and follow the links for "Scholarships". Deadline: April 2nd


Kansas City Associated Equipment Distributors Scholarship awards up to 4 annual scholarships in the amount of $1,000...For students attending a vocational/technical school, and pursuing a certificate or associates degree in Diesel Mechanics or Heavy Equipment Repair. Recipients will be chosen based on their interest in entering one of these fields of study. To remain eligible the recipient must be enrolled full-time starting the fall semester of 2010. Once a student has completed the first year of school, they may reapply for the scholarship for their second year. The applicant must be in good academic standings with a minimum high school GPA of 2.5. DEADLINE: March 15, 2010. Applications are outside Mrs. Hurla's office.


Dillenkiffer Endowment Scholarship offers college tuition grants to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered high school seniors who have at least a 2.75 GPA and can demonstrate how they have made a difference through community involvement and school activities. Applications are due by March 15th and can be found at www.dillenkoffer.org


Glenn Lygrisse/KACRAO Scholarship Four - $500 awards...Cumulative 7th semester GPA of 3.25 or higher, Minimum ACT of 22, complete the application by March 12th, and provide evidence of leadership experience. Applications are available online at www.kacrao.org


BigSun Scholarship The BigSun Organization is proud to be able to continue to help young athletes succeed in their academic pursuits. We are offering an annual scholarship to a deserving student. All student athletes are eligible for this award, regardless of which sport they are participating in. Deadline- June 24, 2010. Amount of Award-$500.00. The successful applicant will be a high school senior or be attending a post secondary institute and currently involved in some sport at that institution or in the community.. Abbott and Fenner Scholarship Program Abbott & Fenner Business Consultants are pleased to be able to continue with our scholarship program for the 4th year. We will be awarding up to $1,000 to the winner(s) each year. Scholarship Deadline - June 19, 2010. Wamego Telecommunications Company Scholarship Three $500 Scholarships to any undergraduate student attending an accredited Kansas university, college, or technical school. Preference given to any student majoring in Marketing, Public Relations, or any telecommunications field. Applications are available online at www.primokt.com. Deadline: March 12th


Kansas County Clerks and Election Officials' Association Scholarship For students majoring in Journalism, Political Science, or Communications that have a 3.0 high school cumulative GPA. 10 Scholarships will be awarded in the amount of $500 each. Applications are outside of Mrs. Hurla's office and must be returned to Inge Luntsford, 130 N. Spruce, Kingman, KS 67068. Deadline: April 2nd.


Knights of Columbus, James W. Gibbons Fourth Degree Assembly Financial Assistance $1,000 award for a student in this geographical area. Award may be used at Technical/Vocational institutions, junior colleges, or universities located in Kansas. Applications are outside Mrs. Hurla's office - Deadline: March 8th


AES Scholarship The consulting firm of AES Engineers is committed to continuing its support of higher education by providing scholarships to deserving students. To be eligible the student needs to answer one of the essay questions that they will find on our site at http://www.aesengineers.com/scholarships.htm Our belief is that achieving a high grade point average should not be the only criteria for determining who deserves to be helped. For that reason we are offering a scholarship that will be awarded on the basis of character, as determined by evaluating the essays that are submitted. St. Marys Masonic Memorial Scholarship All Seniors are eligible to apply. This is approximately a $150 Scholarship. Apply online at http://www.thekrcf.org/smhs-app.htm. Deadline: April 1st


Steve Harper Scholarship $1,000 scholarship for Kansas high school seniors who will be attending a Kansas college and majoring in either a natural resources or photography curriculum. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of past or current involvement in the natural resources or photography area, strength of application, academic performance and financial need. Applications are outside Mrs. Hurla's office. Deadline: April 15


Attention Females Planning on Attending Washburn Next Year! ABWA Career Chapter Scholarship. Each year the ABWA chapter of Topeka awards academic scholarships to female students who attend Washburn University. Eligibility qualifications are as follows: Female Enrolled to attend Washburn University (minimum of 6.0 for-credit hours required) Cumulative Grade Point Average of no less than 3.0 Demonstrate financial need Professional or business career goals Available to be interviewed The Scholarship Application is available on-line at: http://www.abwa-career.org/. KSU Loren Mall Leadership Scholarship Two $500 Scholarships to incoming freshmen for the Fall 2010 semester. Based on Leadership and Academic Excellence in high school. Grades, ACT scores, school and community activities, and leadership roles will the factors in our decision process. To apply go online to www.deltasigonline.com Deadline: April 10th.


Chapter HX P.E.O. Scholarship Awards $500 to a St. Marys High School Senior Girl with a “B” Average, who plans to further her education in some way. Applications need to be completed and returned to Mrs. Hurla by March 22nd. If you did not have an application on your locker then please come and get one from Mrs. Hurla.
