At SMGS, when we say school nutrition professionals are heroes, we mean it! That’s why we celebrate them during our annual SMGS School Lunch Hero Day recognizing the difference these team members make for every child who walks into their cafeteria.

This year we are focusing on a different character word each month. One thing we are doing to help promote the word is to have someone come in to talk to the students about how they use word of the month in their lives. November’s word is Gratitude. The definition of gratitude is focusing on what’s good in our lives and being thankful for the things we have. We asked Mallory Hammer if she would be our speaker on Gratitude this month. She came in and did a short presentation using the letters in the word Gratitude to tell things that she was grateful for in her life. We would like to say thank you to Mallory and her family for taking the time to come in for a visit at SMGS.

SMGS would like to thank everyone that donated to our recent food drive. We were able to collect nearly 390 food items for our local food pantry. We'd also like to thank the students that helped count and our 5th graders for helping get it all loaded up. Your generosity is greatly appreciated!

Congratulations to Mailey Hammersmith!! Mailey received a positive office referral for continuing to be a great friend and being helpful to her classmates!! Nicely done Mailey!

American Education Week happens the week prior to the week of Thanksgiving each year. USD 321 celebrates this week in an effort to honor the team of people who work in our nation’s public schools. We appreciate all of our staff, including bus drivers, custodial and maintenance staff, support staff/paraeducators, food service workers, teachers, administrators, and administrative assistants. This week we celebrate our entire public school community. Happy American Education Week!

Freedom is never free. SMGS would like to thank all our veterans for your courage, strength and dedication to keeping us safe.
